Which of the accessories offer the most effective protection against excessive heat gain?

What is the reality?
The Fakro Company in order to improve its products and increase user comfort analyses effectiveness of anti-heat-gain protection properties of different shields. For this reason eight identical research rooms have been prepared which were subjected to the same amount of sun light and fitted with the same type of roof windows. The research was performed with closed windows and temperature measured one metre above the floor in few points. The windows were equipped with various accessories and the result is presented on the diagram.
The investigation results above show clearly that external accessories (awning blind, roller blind) provide the best protection from outside heat. The external accessories keep the sun's rays outside the pane, reduce the heat flow and help prevent the room from overheating. The inernal accesories also offer protection from the heat but to a lesser degree than external accessories: Their main function is to decorate the space and regulate the amount of light entering the room.

Considering the effect of sun protection, the price and ease of installation, the optimum protection from the sun is provided by an external awning blind.
The external awning blind together with an internal accessory installed on a Fakro roof window creates a set of accessories which ensures the highest levels of comfort in the loft space because they protect from heat and light and also decorate the room.
